Three men. Three structuring schemes. Three barely-there sentences. All three remained active in Detroit politics. All three connected to the same network.

The Powell drug operation that Daniels served: $21 million laundered, 12 kg cocaine, 30 kg heroin, 1,000 lbs marijuana. Both Powell brothers got life. Daniels got one year. Keith Stallworth’s conspiracy charges were dropped. Banks has served less than nine months total across 9 convictions.

The Racial Solidarity Shield

All four dynasties used the same armor: racial solidarity.

The Stallworths ran the Black Caucus Foundation. The Sabrees built a judicial dynasty in the most Black city in America. The Kilpatricks embodied Black political power in Detroit. Banks frames himself as a “redemption story” for a Black community that believes in second chances.

The armor works because it exploits something real. The history of racism against Black Detroiters is not fabricated. The distrust of institutions that have failed Black communities is earned. The desire for Black leadership in Black institutions is legitimate.

But when that legitimate desire is weaponized to protect a man who produces 3% math proficiency — when 97% of overwhelmingly Black children cannot do grade-level math while $4.9 million flows through shell entities — the armor is not protecting the community. It is trapping them inside the machine.

The crack trade destroyed these neighborhoods. The foreclosure pipeline stripped them of wealth. Kwame’s corruption bankrupted their city. And now the children who grew up in that wreckage sit in classrooms run by the same families, at the same addresses, with the same zero-accountability playbook — and they can’t do math.

The machine survived every prosecution. It survived the crack era, the RICO case, the FBI probes, the money laundering pleas. It put on a suit. It moved into the school system. It counts heads for per-pupil funding.
